Nearly 200 members signed up for the 2018 Wine Clubs , with even more interest and requests received for the 2019 Calender Year.  With exciting events already on the diary, and the first tastings of the year already planned, the CVO team are ready to rock ‘n roll!

We will kick off 2019 on a high note with tastings arranged at wineries in February with great wine and superb views.  We always attempt to make the most of daylight hours in summer months by arranging tastings at wineries that look out over mountains and/or the ocean!

In 2019, we will visit Austria for our bi-annual overseas trip.  We will start this excursion in Vienna on 14 September, travel through the Austrian Winelands for a week and end up in Vienna again.  Thus far, 12 people have put their names on the list and there is space for another 18.  Please contact Björn at bjorn@wineclubssa.co.za should you wish to add your name to the list.

Wine Club Members can also diarise the Pinotage & Biltong Festival at Perdeberg Winery on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 April 2019 and the Cabernet Franc Carnival at Avontuur Estate on Saturday 18 May 2019.

Annual Membership Fees will remain the same as in 2018 at R350 per person.  This fee will give members the right to book their places for tastings and other in initiatives as arranged by the club.  Tastings (as booked for by members) are payable in cash on the evening.  No cancellation fee will be payable for these tastings/dinners if cancelled at least two working days prior to such tastings.  No shows will need to pay full cost for tastings and members will be responsible for their guests to show up and/or pay.

Current and prospective members of the four wine clubs managed by Wine Clubs SA;  Gastronauts, Goblets & Gourmets, Wine Explorers and Boland Wine Club, are now invited to sign up for 2018. Annual Membership fees are still R350 (Goblets & Gourmets, Wine Explorers & Boland wine Club)  with monthly tasting fees (which includes dinner)  at R220 for Wine Explorers and Boland Wine Clubs and approximately R270 for Goblets & Gourmets.  Things are on the sometimes a bit more pricey at certain wineries which have their own caterers or restaurants…… we might (on the odd occasion) charge more if needed.

The  tasting- and dinner fees for Gastronauts will be set at R650.  Members of the different clubs are automatically members of Gastronauts and will only be charged members’ fees when these tastings/dinners are arranged (max of two events a year!).

We have recently visited a few new and unknown wineries and are currently in discussion with these wineries to set up tastings in 2018. There will be no international trip in 2018 as we do these every second year, with the last one to France in September 2017.  We are planning our next trip abroad to Austria  in September 2019.

However, there will be a couple of weekends away to wine areas some distance away from Cape Town.  Discussions are under way to visit the Namaqualand West Coast for a long weekend in September and a day-trip (a Saturday in May) to the Southern Suburbs to visit places like Cape Point Vineyards and Steenberg.
